![]() Image: Abe Sapien, a Dark Horse Comics character. Fictional biography from Wikipedia:
Sapien began life as Langdon Everett Caul, a Victorian scientist and businessman who became involved with the Oannes Society, an occult organization who believed in life and all knowledge having come from the sea. After retrieving a strange jellyfish-like deity from an underwater ruin, Caul and the other members performed an arcane ritual that inadvertently ended with the creature's release and Caul being turned into an icthyo sapien. Believing him to be Oannes reborn, the society sealed the developing icthyo sapien's body in a tube of water in the hidden laboratory beneath a Washington, D.C. hospital until such time as he was fully formed.
| ![]() | ![]() Note from Mary Jo [8/09/10] Title: The Oannes Trail: Real Life Is As Strange As Fiction At the end of my last note, I said I would explore the connection between ENKI and Oannes. A Google search on "Oannes" and "Comics" returns a Dark Horse Comics page that explains that an Oannes Society was formed by a splinter group of dissidents of the Heliopic Brotherhood of Ra [or "HBR" formed in 1729 by a fictional French textile merchant named Eugene Remy to preserve the teachings of a being named Larzod who Remy encountered under the Great Pyramid in 1728]:

The Oannes of Babylonia Robert Temple's Appendix II contains an English translation of the surviving fragments of lost Babylonian history written in Greek by a Babylonian priest named Berossus, an aquaintance of Aristotle's.

Note: Sirian posers [in this case posers who influence Hollywood], like to pretend that they are always combating evil.

Notes:
Nuada's Twin: Princess NualaPrince Nuada's twin, named Nuala, becomes romantically involved with the amphibean Abe Sapien. A Hellboy II fan named "Lady Scale" of "Lizard Scale Productions" created a music video with clips of these two characters that includes scenes from the movie. Image: [right] Nuala, called the "Elf Princess of the Underworld," is played by actress Anna Walton. The relationship Nuala has with her twin has been called incestuous. [From Wikipedia's Incest in Popular Culture Entry]: In Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Prince Nuada (Luke Goss) harbors romantic feelings for his twin sister, princess Nuala (Anna Walton), as noted by Luke, "There is an incestuous relationship that's not maybe overly obvious to everybody, but some people hopefully will pick up on the fact, certainly from my direction towards her." Note: Although it's odd that Wikipedia's entry on incest in popular culture contains a note about Hellboy II, ENKI and his family are known for marrying their siblings.
Note: Pan's Labyrinth is a 2006 Spanish language fantasy film, written and directed by Mexican film-maker Guillermo del Toro. Del Toro co-wrote and directed Hellboy [2004] as well as the sequel, Hellboy II: The Golden Army [2008].
ENKI = ZEUS [father] Thoth/Hermes = PAN [son] In 1933, the Egyptologist Margaret Murray published the book, The God of the Witches, in which she theorized that Pan was one form of the horned god worshipped by witches. In Wicca, the horned god is represented by deities Cernunnos and Greek Pan. Note: ENKI and his brother ENLIL share the nickname Satan who also has horns. Apparently, the whole family has identities with horns. The Wikipedia Entry for Ninhursag or Ninmah [ENKI's wife and THOTH's mother] says she is "typically depicted wearing a horned head-dress."
Otherkin: A Community of Non-Human Selves
Otherkin identify with vampires, weres [werewolves], demons, angels, fae [also known as fairies], elves and dragons. Image: [above, right] Photo from John Morehead's blog entry titled, "The Otherkin: Fantastic Texts, Pop Culture, and Neo-Religiosity" from his blog called "Theofantastique." This photo did not have a caption. I wonder how this young woman managed to apply a blue tint to her skin. Notes:
