 Image: Power and money are the criteria for celebrity ranking on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list that was released on June 28, 2010. Although Oprah Winfrey is at the top of the list with 12-month earnings of $315 million, a Forbes video called "The Power of Twilight" makes the claim that there are "no celebrities more famous than the Twilight kids." In the video, Oprah, Angelina Jolie, Lady Gaga and Conan O'Brian are referred to as "other heavy hitters." The Forbes.com site contains a slideshow of the stars who were dropped from the list to make room for the Twilight newcomers. The "dropoffs" include Will Smith and Harrison Ford.

In the video, video news anchors Morgan Brennan and Lacey Rose make the outrageous claim that there are no celebrities more famous than the Twilight kids. They refer to the stars as "newcomer" kids calling them "heavy hitters" and "faces of one of the biggest franchises of all time." Notes:

Although the print version of the Celebrity 100 list is not ready, there's an image of the cover in the video and Twilight's Robert Pattinson is in the the middle of the photo.
Supplemental slide shows of celebrities from the Forbes list help to make it clear that the statement about the Twilight kids fame is highly exaggerated. See:

The third movie, Twilight Saga: Eclipse," will be released in theaters this summer.
The continued onslaught of Twilight attention has landed two of its stars and the author on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list.
Kristin Stewart comes in at number 66 on our list. She earned 12 million dollars in the last year.
Rob Pattinson is also a newcomer to the list. He earned 17 million dollars in the last year. That put him on the list at number 50.
And then you have Stephenie Meyer, the author of the series. She is back. She was on the list last year. She made 40 million dollars in the last year.

We're also looking at fame, publicity across blogs, magazines, print, Twitter feeds.
With stars like the Twilight kids, that's where they really excel.
With the exception of perhaps Angelina Jolie...
...and Lady Gaga, there is no one more famous now than these Twilight stars.
Other heavy hitters on the Celebrity 100 include Oprah Winfrey in the number 1 spot with 315 million dollars [From Mary Jo]: Should Oprah be in a category called "Other heavy hitters?"].
Breakout superstar Lady Gaga at number 4 with 62 million dollars
And fellow newcomer Conan O'Brian at number 51 with 38 million.
Twilight supporting actor Taylor Lautner did not make this year's list but he's a star to watch for.
The vampire series actors may not have earned quite as much money as other celebrities this year
but they are the faces of one of entertainment's biggest franchises of all time.
All of a sudden these kids have leverage.
They can't make these movies without their stars.
So that's why you see them with real money on the front end and the back end. There are several more Twilight movies coming out in the next couple of years.

There is nothing life-affirming in the Twilight saga. It's treacherous hypnotic drivel that's luring mostly young adults to theaters while Satanic underpinnings are quietly being introduced in other media [mostly for free].
